Since the San Mateo Fire Department was founded in 1889, our dedicated men and women have been essential to community safety and welfare.

Growing with advanced technology, sophisticated training and personal dedication, today’s San Mateo Fire Department is prepared to respond to emergency medical calls and fires, rescues, assist at traffic accidents and major disasters.

Through safety training and preparedness, we strive to educate the community about fire and life safety skills for everyday life.

The San Mateo Firefighters Association proudly supports the city of San Mateo through various fundraisers and outreach events.  Our membership volunteers annually with charities such as MDA, Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, and Toys for Tots.
